cancelling our holiday

my partner is in the critical care unit and cannot and is unable to cancel our holiday to america he has paid all the cars, hotels, in flights on his card and how will he get this back and how could he cancel as they say he is the card holder and they discuss this with him? but he cannot because he is in no fit state to do this and its september we were due to go i wondered if anyone has come up against this before?

    You'll likely lose the costs of the flights and depending on where you booked the car that too.
    Hotels generally will be able to be cancelled and youll be refunded, but again it depends where you booked them.
    Those that can be cancelled should be able to be done online.

    For flights though, which you will almost certainly lose you will have to claim on your travel insurance.

    The insurance company will need to see that you have mitigated any loss, so please as soon as is practical, start to try cancelling the various elements to avoid any further late cancellation fees, inform the insurance company immediately of the situation
