My dad had a simmer last year for 3 months but couldn't use it, when he returned it to dundonald hospital he was told they don't get used again due to cross contamination, so it sounds like your sister was correct, I couldn't believe it when he told me, due to the state of the national health service, I thought they would try to save some money.
They do get re-used but they have to go through decontamination and therefore have to go to sites where this is carried out - i.e. warehouses not hospitalsJohn0 -
The equipment sometimes have a label on where to return them. When my mum died I took them back to social services which were on a industrial estate and they repair and or clean them up. I think they cna come and collect them but I wanted to save them time and effort0
