Streamline.net webhosting

This company are sneaky, I'm having some trouble and i'd like to know my rights.

Long story short, I have a domain account with them, it had included hosting in the past but I don't use it.

Now i have no cuase to access the account. The other day I had a notice that my card details needed to be updated in order to continue with my service.

In fairness I'd forgotten that I had previously paid for hosting. I thought it was just the domain.

Anyway, on their site I could only enter card details. No other way to access my account. I proceeded to put in the card details (at this point i'm accepting they're going to bill me but i'm expecting about a tenner for domain renewall)

To my horror they then charged me about £200 for domain hosting for the next two years.

I've raised a dispute with them and they say they emailed me and it would have been clear on my account.

I told them that the first email i'd had from them was about the card expiry and that I never log on to the account.

They won't budge on this matter. I've told them I don't want the service but they won't refund me.

Do I have any rights?

Thanks in advance :j

    Of course you do.

But if you mean do you have a right to a refund, then the answer is probably no.

It strikes me that perhaps you should've been more careful with what you were agreeing to.

They are providing a service to you.
Not sure when they started to provide that service, but once they have started to provide the service, it probably becomes non-cancellable.

Whether you are using the service or not is not relevant.

Have you checked you spam folder to see if their first email is there?

I don't really think "I never log on to the account" is a good enough excuse, do you? ;)

It was two years ago, I thought I had just left the domain there. I can see that i'm not going to get anything back. I just think the way they conduct their business is sneaky. A google search suggests i'm not the only one.

Oh well you live and learn I guess.

    Thanks for the replies.
