Budget Calculator

Options
Hi all,

I'm just trying to figure out what I spend against what I earn and save (well try to save lol) as I'm a FTB.

Simple enough to do, though I'm sure I will have missed out a whole bunch of hidden costs when it comes to owning a house/flat for the first time. Does anyone have a good list of things to take into account when buying a house / perhaps a website or best of all a spreadsheet where I could put in my own values? :D

Basically I'm looking to cover all (or as many bases as possible) to ensure I can afford a mortgage.

Thanks all :) hope everyone is having a nice weekend - especially all the mothers :)

I have an excel spreadsheet that I use to calculate all of my expenditure and I also imput my income in it too. It's broken down by month and under month it includes all the items that I spend money on e.g. council tax, food, pub etc. I'm happy to email you a template of it if you pm me your email address.

Or you could try Martin's budget planner here

It's a bit more simplistic than my spreadsheet but covers all the main costs and will show you whether you will get in the red each month or if you will have money to save.
