Travel Insurance

Hi all

Its me again :o

My daughter who is just 14 is going to visit her Daddy who lives in France with his new wife. They run a bar and Chambres D'Hote. My daughter is traveling over with her Daddy's sister and family and will be in France for about 3 weeks. In August.

I am trying to get very cheap travel insurance but each time I try ( from recommendations on mse) the companies want her to be 18 ! So I cant go through with the quote. And when I ring them they tell me I have to compete the form online.

Is this a situation where I have to pay more cos I have to go to the Post Office ( or wherever) where I can have a face to face chat?

Also she will be traveling back on her own ( I cant think about it *too* much cos it scares me!) and I wondered if anyone had any advice about flights from Brittany to the UK.

Also she will be traveling back on her own

I suggest you check whether the airlines will allow that.
I don't know exactly what the age cut-off is but I don't think she will be allowed to travel on her own on a plane.

The most awkward will take unaccompanied 14 year olds (ryanair/easyjet), and BA take them from 12.

OP, try direct travel, (not a recommendation), who will sell travel insurance to a minor (though will charge full price).
  • Thanks so much. Yeah some do allow her to travel alone some dont. I wouldnt want her to travel alone and as her father cant travel with her I will pay for a chaperone.

No one is saying they want a face to face chat, they want to have a talk on the phone because it is a non-standard situation and the cost of developing a web system that can deal with every eventuality is too expensive for the volume of business you get for the unorthodox requirements.
  • Thank you

I wonder who you would suggest I ring under these circumstances as those mentioned on mse are online only outlets.

I believe Direct Travel no longer cover minors travelling without an adult.

    Try the Post Office.

    This is a mistaken "belief"!

OP, you can buy online for a 14 year old from direct (though not a recommendation for them!)
