what hope is there?

I rejoined Scottish Power after a house move in April last year. It has taken me until now, endless emails, phone calls, hours of time, 13 bills to get what is still an incomprehensible, but almost correct bill, I think. That is if I cash the cheque they sent me in March and then asked to return! The problem started when the online system would only accept 4 digits instead of 5. No-one seemed capable of understanding the fact that I was apparently only using 1/10 th of my actual gas usage, which is low anyway. I have now moved on from SP, but even then they overrode my meter reading to the new energy company, who mercifully responded immediatel to my pleas not to take any notice of them!
Do you think I stand any chance at all for compensation for time, stress and mental power expended?!!!

"Compensation" for the stated grounds, unlikely. An "ex-gratia" payment as part of a Complaint resolution, much more likely.

I want to respond differently for the benefit of others. You only need to to give the supplier one and only one opportunity to resolve an issue 100% to your satisfaction. If you are not 100% satisfied raise a formal complaint, strictly in accordance with the complaints procedure, by Recorded Delivery letter or by email. If you remain dissatisfied after a further 8 weeks you are then entitled to ask the Energy Ombudsman to consider the issue.

If there are any unresolved Scottish Power issues you are still entitled to raise a complaint even though you have switched away.
