Diswasher not using the Detergent - pl help fix

Hi all
We have a AGE Favorit Diswasher which is just over 2 years old. Recently it has started to not use all the 3 in one detergent in the dispenser. When i open it after it has finished it is still there nearly intact or it has dropped down the botton.

We then thought it might not like the 3 in 1 so used powder on the longest setting but it still did not use it hardly any of it. I am not sure if the lid is failing to open but it is open when we open the door after it has finished.

Looking at the dispenser it seems ok so really dont know what is going on. Please can some help who might have had the same problem. Really dont want to call out an engineer if it is something really simple. Needless to day it is out of warrenty by now.

can you take the drawer out that you put it into? couldd just be blocked.

Thanks for the suggestion it is not a draw you put the detergent into it is just a little hollow with a lid on the inside of the main door. The lid seem to open fine when I try it.

Sounds like its not opening at the correct time but cant be any more help sorry.
Try the AEG website if they have one might be a simple fix

Thanks Mervyn I think you are spot on. I had attached a little lemon referesher to the top basket right in front of the dispenser so have now removed it and hoping it will solve the problem. If it does Im glad I did not call out the engineer for something that stupid. Will report back when the cycle has finished. Thanks

Ours fails to open if the plates are not stacked correctly. Our plates are rather large and can get in the way, so I usually leave a gap in front of the drop down flap. IYKWIM

All sorted now it was the STUPID LEMON THINGY that had got in the way. Phewww saved myself a bill there. Many many thanks for all your help.

Glad I read this, I've also got an AEG Favorit although it's a lot older than yours, I get same problem sometimes, I'm not the worlds best stacker so now I know why.

i spent 10 years fixing dishwashers, you dont need to use the dispenser on a normal wash cycle, just chuck the tablet in at the start of the wash, if you listen to your washer it drains, then you hear the door open for the detergent dispenser and the tablet drop down
