Help for ageing Hotpoint tumbledryer

Hello everyone.I have an elderly but faithful old Hotpoint tumble dryer.
The back of the button, which, when pressed releases the door catch has become old and worn out. I have enquired about a new "door switch kit" but the suppliers I have managed to contact inform me that part is now obsolete :(
Does anyone know of a supplier who stocks obsolete Hotpint dryer spares.
The model number on the dryer is 9334p. I would much rather recycle and repair "old faithful" than spend a wad for a new one (squeak, squeak, ME! TIGHT, never!!) ;)

My guess is that there will be a number of 2nd hand spares places for washing machine and dryer spares in your area. I have managed to source the odd part from 181 Respin in Plymouth. I can't remember the phone number but a google may do it for you.

If it is THAT old, you may be better replacing it with a new more energy efficient one.

    Thank you. but,
    Which one?????

Bearing in mind I am on a VERY tight budget, the initial outlay for the dryer needs to be low so I can then afford to run it.

Would you be able to reccomend a fair priced one which is more energy efficient.
When I search for dryers there are so many to choose from ranging from £99- £ megabucks .

We recently bought a John Lewis JLTD06 and are very pleased with it. One of the reasons we chose it is JL electrical products come with a five year guarantee.

Maybe it would be cheaper to repair, but I find when one thing goes wrong then another item usually follows shortly after. As you are probably aware tumble driers are very expensive to run, modern ones are a lot more efficient. If you look on line or in any shop you will see driers are graded A through D in relation to their energy efficiency.
