New York Pass

Hi everyone
Has anyone had any experience of the New York Pass?
We are in NY for a week in May and are thinking of buying one for each of the family. On their website it comes to £260 but there are loads of attractions listed and it seems like a bargain.
'Admission to over 40 top attractions in New York City, including:
Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Museum of Modern Art, American Museum of Natural History, The Guggenheim, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, Brooklyn Museum of Art, NBC Studio Tour, Circleline Sightseeing, Radio City Music Hall Stage Door Tour, The United Nations Tour, Madison Square Garden All Access Tour, and many others'
Has anyone ever bought one and if so was it easy to use or a rip off???
Thanks

:T my bf and I used it last June and we definately got our moneys worth. It is very easy to use and saved us carrying around a lot of cash. We also upgraded our tickets to include the sightseeing bus for an extra £10 per ticket. Is this offer still on? We found this useful for getting our bearings!
However, we did plan in advance what we were going to see and made sure we would make our money back. eg morning: Ellis Island, Central Park Zoo, Afternoon:National History museum, Evening: Madame Tussands and Empire State.
If you do decide to get them..Remember it is a queue jump ticket and there is no need to queue any attraction. eg for the Empire state building do not queue and just go straight to the front.. we queued for 30 min only to be told that the tickets were queue jump :rotfl:Competition Challenge 2007 - Win your internet fees back in prizes = £349.87/£1560 -
Thanks for the prompt reply!!!
it does seem like value for money!!!
Where did you buy your tickets?
The official site has 20% off this weekend!!!:j :j :j
When we went last time we booked our statue of liberty tickets online because you need to book a time slot. What do you do if you have a NY pass?
We are going to buy sightseeing bus tickets when we are there so would love to see your special offer!!Newbie ComperWins so far-crunchie bar, Friends DVD set,Clynol shampoo + cond, LUSH Christmas set0 -
they are excellent value for money as long as you are into museums, if you are not then just walking around the city and pay for the odd attraction such as a river trip and the empire state will work out far cheaper
It's a wonderful place and imo the best way to see it is to just walk it, we were there for 4 days last summer with two children (6 and 8) and we walked about, take some good shoes with you
If you go the the empire state, go early to avoid the queues
have fun0 -
Don't forget Staten Island Ferry is free and you get excellent views of Statue of Liberty there - you can't go up it anymore cos of security so It's hard to get photos of it if you're right under itNoli nothis permittere te terere

Statue of Liberty reopened in August 2004, while I was out in USA - have they closed it again?Blood donations to date: 10 | Type: O negative[/B][/CENTER]0 -
I understand one of the passes gets you a $10 discount in Hard Rock cafe so you can pop in there as often as you like and save a fortune.0

Just back from NY today after a fantastic week (thanks in a major part to a lot of MSEs here). Had the NY Pass for one week for $139 and was well worth it despite only going into one museum only (natural history).
Got into Empire state building and the skyride for free and without queuing. also got us into the liberty island (including Statue of liberty) for free and without the need to queue for tickets (although you have to queue through security and to get on the boat). It doesn't include getting inside the statue which you can do up to an observation deck but not all the way to the head (closed since Sept 11). The top of the Rockerfellar centre is unfortunately not included but must be seen as the views were even better than those from the Empire state. The circle line ferry was also really good and free with the pass. Also got $20 off (for 2 passes) a beautiful steak meal in Planet holywood (would have been around $75 otherwise). United nations tour was I felt very good and was also free with the pass. If you get the pass then you won't need to use the Staten Island ferry (which is free) as the liberty tour is free with the pass and definitely better. On a separate note for something that I found pretty annoying was the complete and utter absence of any place in NY to store your luggage whilst going around. No train or bus stations, no shopping malls and no hotels (apart from probably the one you were staying at - and ours was in New Jersey) would accept to keep your luggage.
Hope this helps but let me know if you need more info.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
Again, I can only echo what previous posters have said. I recently visited New York for the first time, and bought a 7-day pass (20% off on the website at the time I bought it), which was invaluable. We definitely got our money's worth, and being able to bypass many queues was a bonus. Also worth noting is you can visit each attraction once a day if you want to - ideal if you want to go up the Empire State Building by day and night!0

Thanks very much for this and to the OP for asking the question. We have purchased 7 day NY passes (online last October with a 25% discount). We go next week :j and have built an itinery for the 5 of us to maximise the use of the passes. Didn't know about the meal discounts, that is realy useful.Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0
