Do I need a New Freezer?

We've had our Zanussi 125L/4.4 cu.ft. freezer for several years. The motor often seems to be running. Yesterday we defrosted it keeping the frozen food packets frozen in chilli bins. Everything was put back in last evening and the machine was switched on again. This morning the high temperature warning light is still illuminated and the motor appears to run continuously. I've checked inside, which is nearly full, and the packages seem frozen.
After that long introduction my question is, has this freezer motor become so inefficient that a new freezer is needed?
