My Son rents out a property, at the bottom of the garden some fencing keeps blowing down, I keep getting it repaired but it happens again, the tennant isn't botherd but the neighbour keeps complaining to the tennant!

Its my Sons boundry his he in his rights just to take the fencing down and not replace it?

I bet it says in the deeds that he needs to keep the boundary in a good state of repair. I guess he could look at alternat fencing, hedge maybe? could also use concrete posts with wire to mark the boundary or have wire fencing. Although not having a proper fence may make it less desirable to rent in the future as I guess most tennants would want a proper fence
    hope that helps

Ask whoever keeps repairing it to do it properly.

    Agree with the saint.

Should get a better fence put in and don't ask the company who keeps putting in the dodgy fencing to repair again.

Company putting in dodgy fencing knowing it will fall down - another call out (more work) to correct it again.. Seems they are getting a lot of repeat work for the same shoddy job.

Afraid you get what you pay for with fencing - concrete post will help a lot too.

If your deeds do not mention that you have a fence, then you can take it down. If your neighbour then puts up a fence, the fence then belongs to him.
    FREEDOM IS NOT FREE
  • With home ownership come certain responsibilties that may or may not be wrtten down.

Keeping the property in a reasonable state of repair would mean repairing the boundary fence and ensuring gardens are kept tidy. Your son could speak to the neighbours who share the fence and ask if the wish to contribute to something more substantial. If not, a wire fence would suffice. Please, anything but that horrible flimsy larch lap panelling that blights many urban areas.
