Need some assistance in woking out the value of some shares

I recently inherited some shares and am trying to work out their value.

they are held with KCOM group PLC, I used the following calculator on their site to calculate the value of my holdings.

http://www.kcomplc.com/investors/share-price-centre/share-calculator/

The total shares I hold with them are 1,825, I was just wandering if someone could put it into the calculator for me. As I am not sure the result I am getting back is correct, and as shares are new to me I am thinking I might be entering the amount incorrectly.

Thank you.

According to Digital Look they closed at 66.5p selling price last night, which values your holding at £1213.62. You would also have dealing fees to take off that, were you to sell.

The price quoted on the calculator is the Mid price, which is usually, but not always halfway between the buy and sell prices. In this case it's slightly higher than halfway with the sell being 66.5p and the buy being 71.65p

What idiot designed that calculator so that it
-displays the value in pence not pounds,
-then adds 2 decimal places of pence,
-does not state in English that pence are used,
-then makes things worse by attaching a non-existent code "GBp" ?

That's weird - I first saw the curency code GBp yesterday, in the context of share prices used on the SKY News ticker. The fact I recall it shows how surprised I was :rotfl:
  • Thanks I was pretty sure something was not right with that high of a total clearly a very badly made calculator.

Thats all standard practice. UK shares are dealt in pence and they do use two decimal places because it matters when you buy a million of them

Its only USA shares that quote in bigger denominations like dollars

Pennies are used in both currencies. Many shares sell in both countries, pennyshare is an american term.
Of course many of our banks now trade as pennies :p
