Mistake on car insurance, only just noticed

Hi,
I took out car insurance with a new company (eChoice) in April. But have just realised it says on the insurance that I have been at my address for 5 years when actually I've only been here for 2. What should I do? If I ring them and tell them will they cancel my insurance? I think the reason is probably because I went through confused.com and not directly through them
And am I allowed to drive my car in the meantime.
Thanks,

You could contact them to correct the information and they may charge you an extra premium. Should not affect the existing cover, so yes you can drive. It is a minor error, that may have been caused when the data was transferred from Confused.
Personally I would wait until renewal and then correct it at that point. But others may agree/disagree.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
I am confused because Confused.com doesnt ask how long you have been living at your address for Car insurance and havent heard of any insurer that asks the question either0

eChoice does require that info - they want to know how long you have lived there (rounded to the nearest year) up to 10 years, if you have been there more than 10, then they accept just that (10 or more).
Maybe they use it for id searches??
If confused sent the OP's details to them, (without this info), maybe they have a default value of 2 years they stick in??0 -
I can see why it would be useful data to have, in a similar way to a few that may ask how long you've owned similar vehicles if you have a performance car but state you've only owned it for a short period of time.
I guess I was more querying the other part, that confused dont ask for it and so either echoice do when you click through to buy or it is a default value they use and should be prompting you to check.
Speaking to them will clarify the situation and if it is a default issue it is probably common and they're on slightly ropey grounds. I tried to look myself but echoice's website is too slow to respond for me to test
*** Update ***
Having finally got it to load the premium page has no mention of it but if you click back to the quote it has defaulted the amount of time living at the address to 5 years. There is text saying you should check everything is correct but it is fairly small in a side menu. I would say there is a fairly strong argument against any additional premium or such that they try to charge for amending it0
