Visiting Leek, Staffs, to take donations donate to the Salvation Army Charityand a meeting, which is 200 yards from car park of Smithfields Shopping centre. I went to parking machine to get ticket, dropping correct money for 3 hours in slot, made up of 10p's,20p and pound coin.
Absent mindly pressing green go button, took ticket went to the car, ONLY to notice when put on dashboard less time then I had paid for, went back to get another ticket to make up for less time, and my BRAND NEW MINTED 10p's and the 20p piece, were there in the coin covered coin slot, I had heard the money drop thinking it was going into machine. NOPE
I tried and tried again, but they wouldnt go through, so had to ask gentleman for older coins etc.
Went back 5 mins before FIRST TICKET had expired just to make sure all was well.
And there was a 50.00 parking ticket on my windscreen, for having another ticket on dashboard within the parking time.
Time recorded on both tickets was only 4 mins apart and in consecutive next number, I didnt leave the car park within the 4 mins.
I returned AGAIN to see if I could speak to (not to confront) car park attendant, waited and waited, as I wanted to show him the example and explaining that in the end 2 gentleman had exchanged my new acquired from post office, brand NEW MINT COINS.
I appealed online, but NOT sending the parking tickets off to them , fearing 'lost in post' :-) but quoting the numerics and times etc,
Having recieved a reply saying my case was being looked at, I searched on the net, only to see many many many cases of people doing exactly the same as I, not really paying attention to ticket after putting correct anount of money in etc.
Staffs car parking services granted my appeal, after a chapter like this one, explaining what had happened, and why I had bought another ticket straight after, and NOT leaving the car park inbetween.
Seems Royal Mint know about this, but explain its up to Car Parking people to make the general public awate that the coins dont work in their machines. Seems they are lighter than the older ones.
Just how many didnt win the appeal I wonder, and why hasnt Royal Mint made it MORE PUBLIC, as I hadnt seen or heard of this before, and do car parking know this but do anything about it?????
I would have gone to court with this, gladly.... :-)

Who issued the ticket?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

You didn't need to 'appeal' - you could have just ignored their invoice."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

But I took 'Staff Car Parking Services' to mean the Council, as I have never heard of a PPC called that and couldn't find one from Googling, either. In which case the PCN could not have been ignored.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
