I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Hi GunJack,

No not safe mode, just normal. Took my cpu in to be backed up and then upgraded to Windows 7. I wasn't asked for any passwords and my user account was passwod protected and contained everything, photos, music, all my documents, the whole caboodle. they went ahead and backed up but didn't get the stuff from my account. Then they reformatted the disk and upgraded the machine. When I got it home and started it up I opened up the back up to find nothing there. I posted the hjt log when very tired and upset late at night after doing everything I could to find my stuff.

It's now back in with them for running various software to try and recover the data - with relevant passwords I hasten to add.

Schoolboy error, I should have backed up myself but they offered to do it all and with a very busy week thought it wasn't a huge extra cost and so voila! I'm now researching external drives to keep as a back up and will do it weekly myself. Absolutely gutted.

Thanks for taking a look anyway.

    All the best,
    Spigs
