Parking in London

Hi,
We've been invited to a wedding reception in London, but are planning on having a day out with the kids beforehand before dropping them off at my sister's in Kentish Town to babysit while we go to the reception (in SoHo), and then pick them up and take them home.
I don't want the hassle of trying to take three kids (aged 1, 2 and 3) home on the last train with all the noisy !!!!heads when the kids are trying to sleep, so driving seems the best option.
The problem then, is parking! I think we're OK finding somewhere near my sisters to park in the evening, but the question is, where to park in the daytime when we're planning to go to the national history museum and out for lunch..?
Parking at a tube station and then heading into London seems like a good plan, but will anywhere have spaces left on a weekday? And if so, which station to park at? We're coming in from Surrey (south of London), but after the reception we need to get back to the car and get to the north of London to pick up the kids...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Pete

To answer my own question, it turns out Westfield (Shepherd's Bush) are currently offering all-day parking for a fiver which was perfect.
On the other hand it turns out the underground really isn't designed for pushchairs!0 -
East Finchley Station has a car park, on the Northern Line you can generally find a space. Parking in around Kentish Town is not possible without being a permit holder during the day but you could park in Woodside Gardens, N10 and roads just off or Gaskell Road, N6. Both these roads are just off Great North Road/Archway Road and on bus routes, nearest underground East Finchley10 minute walk) only a short hop to Kentish Town Station - not included in the controlled parking zones. Alternatively, park in Dukes Avenue N10 and bus 134 or 43 direct to Kentish Town, W7 to Finsbury Park (Victoria Line) to getting into centre. Suggest you park up on arrival and return when going back home. Both areas suggested are quite residential areas.SallyD0
