how long does it take for direct debit to appear online?

As above, i set two direct debit up for opening halifax account, also do i have to wait for it to show on my account before open/switch to halifax?

It depends on the company, and also for the bank to process it. Could do upto 14 days.
Don't forget Halifax also get the date of the DD setup, so if this is to claim the £100, they might refuse if they see you setup the DDs just for this.0
