After some advice.
I terminated my car agreement at which I had paid over half so owed nothing in relation to that.
It states when returning cars that they need to be in reasonable condition in relation to the age of the car. My car was 53 plate car and to me at least and feel majority of people was well within its standards of its age.
Have just received a breakdown of what I owe and have a £240 charge for repairs to bring it back to a satisfactory standard.
Have just rang and asked what repairs it needed and was told:
* It had LIGHT scratches on 1 of the doors
* LIGHT scratches to the front and back bumper.
Now to me light scratches is exepected on a car of its age and I have kept it in a satisfactory condition.
Worth complaining about to the company or am I doomed?
Company who collected it (auctions) said the RAC inspection to make sure it was in a satisfactory conditon was a waste of money as we were using the car everyday so ourselves would know if it needed any repairs. They even said it was amazing to see my make of car without any dents in it.
I'm just fuming that light scratches is the reason for repairs. If it had dents or body work damage I would of fixed it or to be honest probably not terminated my agreement.

It's happened many times when ending a car finance agreement through VT it could be anything they want to but will say it won't just say settled with a green tick.
Just wait and see you might be lucky.0 -
Its the 2nd time I have ended a car hire purchase and never plan on doing hire purchase again.
I'm also in a dmp and besides car hire purchase have had no credit in the last 4 years anyway.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

they may say £240 outstanding, poster maybe suggestingDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
There's an agreed form of inspection, effectively they should inspect it as if it was new, and record any damage. Any damage is then compared against an agreed document issued by the bvla, so this should give an idea, minor scratches very small dings etc shouldnt be a problem.
They may be awkward if you have VTed it, and there may be exceptions but. Get hold of this document and see if that is a fair assessment.0 -

No it wasn't new, I bought it in Jan 2010 and it was an 04 reg car on a 53 plate.
They contacted me back today and asked if I did the independent inspection service as which I said no because I knew nothing was wrong with it and told them never did I think light scratches (this is what they described it as on the 1st phone call) be deemed as not keeping the car in a satisfactory condition in relation to its age.
What makes me laugh is my letter dated the 25th June saying they vehicle has now been returned and inspected. I'd like to know when it was returned to them as it was collected from my house on the 28th May by a local auction company at which I asked them when it would go through at auction, 19th June they told me, so I actually went along and watched it go through at auction.
From the time it left my house it has been at the auction place.
Guess the finance company weren't too happy that what I took out on finance in 2010 which was £3,995 for the car then only sold for £800 at auction.
They told me they have photos of the work it needed so I have asked for a copy.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
