Don't forget, incidentally, that car boots often charge a pitch fee, which could be as high as £8-£10. Then you have the petrol costs if it's a bit of a hike, and normally buyers have to pay to get in. Nowhere where you can sell is ever fee-free.

Not trying to put you off, but just trying to correct a few myths that carboots have no fees.

Very true - I've got a carboot planned for some point over summer anyway so I was aware of the fees etc. and would be doing it with my parents/BF but it's always good to remember that I will have to spend something to sell my stuff!

you only get about 40p per dvd but we used music magpie, a lot less hassle than ebay and as you say, not likely to get much for them anyway

    just a thought

As a buyer I hate having to pay to go somewhere to buy stuff. I'll even give up my time to help out at a fair, horticultural show or fete just to save the entrance fees (quite heftly at our local village knees-up - £5 just to get in!).

Some great ideas, thanks guys :) I've emailed a local hospice to see whether they want some of the DVDs (though I suspect Room 1408 and South Park the movie may not be suitable for them!) before I think any further about selling the rest. The box sets I think I will definitely put on ebay this weekend, going to keep an eye on a few listings to see whether singles or a bundle is the best idea.

Send those 2 too, not everyone who's ill or dying is a prude :D

I have no patience with individual auctions so I batched up my DVDs into groups of 5 0r 6 in genres such as comedy, rom-com, horror etc and sell them as a group on ebay.

I made around £4-5 per batch!

    Hope this helps
