Body Lotion

Hello all,
I've moisturised my body all over with body lotion at least once a day since I was 12 (I'm now 26). Over the years I've used anything and everything ranging from whatever my mum had in the drawer (Avon Skin So Soft and Dove usually) to stuff I've bought on offer myself (Garnier Skin Firming stuff, Superdrugs own brand, Pond's Cocoa Butter).
At the moment I'm using Tesco own Aloe Vera body lotion as it's really thick and smell gorgeous.
I'm just wondering what other people use and whether anyone has any brands or body lotion products that they swear by?
I've got normal skin (not greasy or dry) but I do swim everyday so I'm conscious of the effect of that on my skin.
xx

I used to just go by the fragrance of them, and used whatever I liked the smell of! These days I'm more after a moisturising or skin-firming effect.
I saw in Superdrug the other day that they have Jergens body lotions on offer. I like the look of those because I think they're supposed to be 95% natural or organic (?) but I wasn't sure, so for now I'm just using plain old olive oil! I had some cheapo pomace-grade olive oil left over from when I made a batch of soap a while ago, so I've just been using that on the drier areas or where I can see the skin is losing its elasticity..0 -
Someone I work with really doesn't like Jergens stuff (I can't remember why now) so that's always put me off a bit.
Olive oil? Intereting. I've never used it on my skin before- I'd be worried about putting too much on and either smelling like a chip or getting grease all over my clothes. I used to use liquid parafin (what they use to make emulsifying ointments) and that was like putting lard on your skin- all my clothes were COVERED in the stuff :rotfl:'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. That's interesting about the Jergens.
The olive oil I am using doesn't seem to have much of a smell to it, thankfully. Maybe because it's the lesser quality stuff, - I just got it from the £1 shop. It's a good natural moisturiser, but yes, I guess you have to be careful not to over-apply it, lol!
Liquid paraffin sounds a bit.. flammable?:eek::rotfl:0 -
I have a love hate relationship with body lotions. Most of them just sit on my sin and don't sink in! I have fallen in love with the Aveeno Creamy Moisturising Oil which sinks in immediately, leaves my skin feeling gorgeous and smells like marzipan! Anything and everything. Although depends what's on offer!!
Always like a nice fragrance if possible as I find the smell lasts longer than a perfume. Korres vanilla plum and vanilla cinnamon were 2 of my favs!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -

Oooh, Marzipan sounds lovely. I'll keep my eyes peeledHeadAboveWater wrote: »Anything and everything. Although depends what's on offer!!

I'm exactly the same- whatever's on offer!! But I do love a nice strong smelling body lotion. They never seem to last all that long on my skin though so I'm interested to try some longer lasting fragranced ones.'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. Whatever's on offer for me too! Currently I'm using a Wilkinson's own brand Aloe Vera body lotion. It works ok and was super cheap.
The best body lotion I've ever used was a Ted Baker one which I got given in a gift set one Christmas. I've never been able to find it since, which is a mega shame as it smelled soooooo good!:www: Saving for a deposit - Target £30k by 24/03/14 (30th Birthday!) :www:

I love perfume body lotions (you know, body lotions that are made by a perfume brand and smell like that perfume). I used to use one which I was given as a present- it was in a red tube with a yellow lid. I have no idea what brand it was (maybe Dior or YSL) but it smelled absolutely amazing!'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. Some products irritate my skin. I moisturise daily, else my skin gets very dry, and irritated. I use a selection of body moisturisers.
I love Argan oil, as is multi-purpose, Lavera cream for the same reason, both made from 100% natural products. I'm also using a Mischa B body butter, plus a Burts Bees Honey & Orange Wax body lotion, which is gorgeous, both these contain loads of lovely natural stuff.
I have loads more in my beauty stash, but these are my current favourites.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0 -
I've only recently found a body lotion that actually works, i.e. actually softens the skin properly rather than just sitting on top or moisturising for a few hours, it actually seems to give you baby soft skin again.
It's Palmers Cocoa Butter AHA BHA lotion in the blue bottle. Because it contains chemical exfoliants, it really does reveal the baby soft skin underneath. It's absolutely magic and I can't believe it's only 4 quid for a huge bottle from Boots or Superdrug.
I'm not raving about the fragrance but to be honest, I'd still use it even if it smelt like dog poo11th Heaven prizes Number 103
