Thailand versus India in Aug/Sept

Personally I would sack off Southern India in favour of lingering in the North.
For instance you are missing Jaisalmer, which imo is the best part of Rajasthan and one of the most memorable places in the whole sub continent.
I love Southern India, but, like the North it needs to be lingered in. You see, the amazing thing about India is not seeing the Taj Mahal, or a rushed night on a house boat - It's how easily and readily you can slip into the Indian way of life which is completely different depending on where you are. i.e Those in the south have an entirely different cuisine and language than the North, its an entirely different pace of life and way to live. It could be two different countries tbh.
In my honest opinion you would arrive in India and feel rushed from start to finish.
I suggest you buy India LP but the 2010 edition, sit back with Cleatrip.com and plan a holiday in one of my favourite places on earth. Not just a fleeting trip that will leave you exhausted and wondering what the heck just happened.0 -
Cheers guys for all your feedback. I have been so far to Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Hong Kong.
For me it should not be beach holidays, it is OK to spend the odd day out at doing nothing, but I would prefer to see/explore something new/completely different.
So you would say that the rain per day is roughly limited to one hour, which would be no big deal. Probably better to do the Thailand/Vietnam/Combodia tour now before it is becoming to "touristy" and India when it is slightly more developed?0 -

What's the itinery of the Thailand/Vietnam/Cambodia tour?
An organised tour can be useful for Vietnam and some parts of Cambodia but Thailand is really, really easy to do on your own - though if you wanted to go there before it got "too touristy" then you are about 10 years too late in some places.0 -

Not thought of an itinery yet, first I have to decide which area I want to explore. To be honest, I have not planned at all to join an organised tour, I would assume with a rental car you are doing fine in Combodia and Vietnam, or is it dangerous to go around by yourself (well we are a group of 2 or 3 people)?0
