Advice needed please re buying tickets on Ebay

Advice needed please re buying tickets on Ebay

Given that this may be the only way to get decent seats for sold out events
and not wanting to discuss the morals regarding 'ticket touts' , can someone advise me about buying with a credit card if the tickets are not 'in hand'.

If I buy tickets for December .... to be posted once received from promoter....
would I be able to claim from the credit card issuer if the seller did not send the tickets.

I appreciate that this will be out of Ebays time, but does that hold for CC claims.

Hope this makes sense.

I would be very wary of buying tickets that were not available within the next 30 days. You would obviously be well out of time for a paypal chargeback, and I would think you would also struggle to get money back from a credit company after such a time as well due to the fact that it went via ebay and not via an authorised ticket sale site.

It might be worth phoning your credit card company though to see if they can reassure you that you are fully covered if you buy tickets which are not delivered. Personally though I would leave well alone.

  • Your advice is much appreciated soolin

    It's a bit of a minefield isn't it?

All the decent seats are gone, the occasional ones which come up on the official ticket websites tend to be odd seats and if multiples ,are not very good seats.

Just have to wait till nearer the time and try for tickets in hand

Another thing to bear in mind is that the promoters will usually release more tickets a couple of weeks before the show. And these are normally very good seats. I normally go to smaller all standing shows and have very often got tickets that way if I've missed the original sale, but have had the following successes in massive seated venues:
Foo Fighters at Earls Court - the block right next to the stage. Bought tickets 1 week before the show.
Stereophonics at Wembley - side stage block. Sold as restricted view but wasn't restricted at all (just side on) and much better than being at the back of the arena). Again, bought a week before the show.
Pearl Jam at a big arena in Vancouver - seats behind the stage were released about a month before the show. Again a much better view than being at the back and the band moved around so much it didn't matter that we were behind them.
Also, I got George Michael tickets for my friend 2 weeks before the show (at Wembley) - 4th row

If I were you I'd wait and see if more seats are released. You need to check back every day or so on all the sites - Ticketmaster, See tickets, Ticketweb, livenation and Stargreen (if you're in London). If it gets close to the show and there still aren't any released then look at ebay, and make sure you go for tickets which are in hand.

    HTH.

They were definitely for a friend. There's no way I'd spend £70 or whatever it was to see him.

Ive found that if you leave it until the very last minute, even a day before tickets come very very cheaply. If you search within a 25 mile radius, then contact the seller and ask if he will accept Cash if you collect.

Genuine sellers have no problems with this, and at that late stage are willing to take much lower prices rather than be stuck with an unusable ticket.

Ive got Leeds Fest tickets that was for 2 years running, last year I picked up 3 tickets the day before the festival for £150 for all three. Considering face value is £150 each it shows how cheaply you can get them.
