Maxi cosi problem!

Hi there I'm new to this site so hopefully I'm posting this in the correct place.
Anyway, in 2010 I was researching carseats for my daughter. I really fancied the Maxi Cosi Axiss because of the rotation feature (and my bad back!). On checking their website, it had a section which gave a list of seats approved for use in your particular car. I have a Nissan Qashqai and indeed the Axiss was on the list of approved seats.
I then bought the seat from Amazon (almost £200 if I remember correctly) and fitted it myself.
For some reason the other day I looked at their site again and the Axiss is now no longer on the list for the Qashqai. I emailed them querying this and they said due to new information it had been removed and was now no longer approved for my car. They requested that I send photos of the seat in my car, which I have done, and they would get back to me. I am now waiting anxiously for a reply.
If they come back and say I should not be using it, do I have any right to ask for some compensation towards replacing a very expensive seat?

I think it depends on what they come back with, but personally I'd probably just carry on using it. You say you researched seats in 2010, i.e. 2 years ago. How much longer will your child actually be using it anyway?
In terms of compensation, you might get better responses on the consumer rights board. As you say, you bought this seat because it was compatible with your car. If this advice then changes, it's not unreasonable to expect some sort of recompense. However... any refund you might receive will probably take into account how long you've been using the seat with no problems. If a product is recalled a short period after issuing, you could expect a full refund or replacement, but two years later? I doubt it.
But, again, I really think it depends on why they've changed their advice. I know carseats can be an emotive issue because of the safety aspect but wait and see what they say."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I will be using it for a few years yet as my youngest daughter has just moved into it from her infant seat (the eldest has just moved into a larger seat). She's only 13 months so could be in it for at least another 2 years, probably more.0

There may also be some terms attached to these recommendations that cover this eventuality after a certain time period.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

The qashqai was changed in 2010.
It might be the new version is no longer the same as the older model and that is why they have removed it.
Cars do get face lifts "mid-life" so this is as likely a reason as any.
Hopefully my geek wasn't showing too badly to know that...0 -
Just because it's not "recommended" doesn't mean it's unsafe.
What did they say for the removal of the recommendation?0 -
I have a 2009 model Qashqai and the site allows you to select your particular model (although for the Qashqai it just says 2009 onwards).
Their reply said this
"Further testing on the Maxi-Cosi Axiss in the Nissan Qashqai showed that the fit is not always ideal and based on the newer information that became available the original information was removed. "0 -
"not always"0

Go to a local mothercare or shop that sells the seats & has trained staff & explain the situation and get them to check it for you.

Mothercare won't check seats they haven't sold - not round here anyway.
Try contacting your local council and see if their Road Safety dept will check the seat for you - you can look on https://www.childcarseats.org.uk for your nearest one.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

We have just bought a Qashqai+2. We have an axiss and thought it fitted, but I noticed today, the belt clip is against the plastic, which is apparently unsafe. We're now in a real pickle as we need a new seat for our 3 year old who has cerebral palsy so the swivel thing is very important. She's only going to be in the group 1 seat for a few more months so we are looking for a 123 seat that fits the qashqai. Can anyone help?0
