My father and brother both have Cross rolled gold pen sets.
I've never wanted a Cross set as I don't like the idea of writing cross, I'd rather be writing happy lol
My mother has a DuPont pen set, now that is a pen set I covet sooo much, absolutely beautiful and perfectly weighted.

I just wrote 2 letters to people this evening, it's nice to sit and write and and even nicer when you receive a handwritten letter in the post, makes you feel loved.

No, don't think you can, I plug keyboards into my iMac, seems to work better at a computer than a Cross pen would :p

Hated reading this. I lost both my 18K Cross pens about a decade ago :(

So upset I couldn't face replacing them and bought Montblanc instead.

Montblanc are NICE :jbut even more expensive.

I guess everyone spends their money differently- Some people spend 60 quid every Friday night, getting as drunk as a skunk and letting it all out all over the pavement or on the nearest wall, then costing the emergency services thousands of pounds cleaning up the social disorder they cause. For less than they waste on booze in month I bought a gorgeous Cross pen that is an investment and something to pass down to other generations. A status symbol.. much better 'waste' of money than peeing it all up a wall yeah?

My first thought when i saw the post was OMG who spends that on a pen - however, I kept my thoughts to myself.

I agree with her, it is each to their own and what some people find their 'thing' others do not. I'd not consider spending £88 on a pen I'd lose it in a day (or someone would nick it!!) but for a special gift it is an absolute bargain - even if a family buy it between them. Heck, I'd LOVE to be giving a pen worth £250, I do not think I'd ever use it, but I would feel a warm glow that I was thought of so highly.

We should not mock people for what they choose to spend their money on - I've had this discussion over on the consumer post where someone had their £700 bag ruined in a hair salon. At the end of the day, their money is their money and they can spend it on what they want. I am pretty sure most of you would fall over if we told you how much our holiday is costing next year. You could buy 100 pens instead. At least. And every penny saved is a penny more we have to spend on that holiday and that is why I am here.
