If you can't talk about it, can you write about it?

Either, could you write down and then take it to your mh appts. That is what I had to do when my depression got too bad.

Or, could you summarise it in a letter for the appeal (perhaps getting your GP to sign to say that he had read it).
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

I do empathise, as I'm not a 'talker' either.
In the past 4 years I've had a really traumatic time, anf to be honest, I really don't know how I've carried on at times.

But to be honest, without supporting evidence from a professional, I really think you will struggle at tribunal.

    Good luck anyway.

If you're talking about your grand bubs I can totally understand how traumatic it would have been for a nan,and their but for the grace of god........

that was the straw that broke the camels back, but it happened at a time when loys of other things were happening... and continued to happen. in the last 6 months or so, things have been slowly improving and as they say ... what doesnt kill you makes you stronger ( wishful thinking maybe, but fingers crosses!)

got a new grandbaby due in october ... a scary prospect, but something to look forward to... and its a girl this time, so hopefully not too many similarities and comparisons to be drawn ....

Thank you everyone. I guess I will just have to see what happens. I know I won't be able to get a supportive letter from my Dr. I have asked him twice.
He is certain the certificate is enough support. And that they will write to him for anything else. He is really a very supportive Dr usually.
My brother did seek help for me from several organisations. But they all said they are overrun with requests. And could not take any more on.
I guess I will just have to try and take some comfort in the fact a relative won their appeal a few months ago without any supporting letter or anything. They were seen in the same centre where my appeal is.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me.
  • Hi i just wanted to say good luck with your appeal . These things always seem worse before you get there than they actually are. You know in your heart that you are ill and that will hope fully shine through to the tribunal panel. good luck xxx

My GP was sent a form to fill in.
He stated that I have suicidal thoughts and cannot get out of bed some days and have rarely out.

    The tribunal ignored it.

With hindsight (and a better advisor - I said before on here, he was useless) I should have won my appeal.

You have to go through your report and tell them where it is wrong. I wasn't helped at all to do this. The original nurse, who gave me 0 points, got a way with telling lies.

I'm sorry to be a downer.
I did tell them, through sobs and tears, how I didn't wash for a week or cook anything, or go out of the house, and that my kids did everything for me, but I was still found fit for work.

And if the worse happens, re claim ESA again. And also, get another GP.

But, I have signed on and have done a few short courses, changed my medication and am getting out and about more.

Staying in and doing nothing doesn't help at all.

I strongly believe that if you can work, you should do it, just to get away from the stinking DWP and how sick people are now being treated!

When I get a job, I won't have to answer to them any more!

Good luck and I hope you get treated better than I did!

Just wondered how you got on today OP. I've had a phone call this morning and have an appointment for the 31st July. I was begining to think they'd forgotten me (probably because I'm not claiming anything at the moment)
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I won!!! Thanks for all your good wishes. They worked. I couldn't have had nicer people on the panel. The judge looked very much like hyacinth bucket. The people before me didn't look too happy. So I thought I've no chance here. But they gave me the decision there and then. I didn't even have to wait outside while they discussed it.The letter they gave me recommends I be reassessed again within 24 months. I don't know if the dwp will take any notice of that. Now I will have to battle to get the benefit they stopped backdated. And get back to the full amount to be paid. I am sooo relieved I can't tell you. Thanks again for thinking of me. :j

Great news. Judging from the fact they didn't even get you to wait outside for deliberations and gave prognosis of 24 months (upper end of spectrum) suggests in light of your lack of supporting medical evidence that they completely rejected the DWP's (they're probably used to seeing nonsense ATOS HC reports). Recent threads suggest it may take a good few weeks for the payments to be corrected and backdated so make sure you keep sending those sicknotes in. Make sure you keep your results slip... come next reassessment I'd be inclined to include it as evidence.. especially if it gives the descriptor(s) you feel do indeed apply to you!
