Problem with ebay resolution centre?

Hi folks,

I bought a small cost on ebay £2.29 but it was wrong item sent so I contacted the seller through ebay resolution centre. The seller said to return it, but no word of paying for return postage etc.

I wanted to query this with the seller but ebay resolution centre when I clicked "action to take" would only present me with the option of inputing a tracking number for returning the item, +an additional note to seller. Obviously I couldn't put in a tracking number (though I did find out at the post office it woudl cost £3.15 to return by recorded delivery, more than the item was worth)

So because I couldn't put in a tracking number for returning item, I couldn't proceed further in the resolution centre, and as I felt to try anything else woudl be more trouble than its worth, I just closed the case.

I just got the impression that the resolution centre was more on the sellers side when It wouldn't let me send message to seller to discuss return postage charges etc.

Just wondered has anyone else had the same problem?

Thanks
martin57

The resolution centre for SNAD is a last resort. As your seller had said they would accept the return, you should have asked them via ebay messages if they would fund the cost of the return.

If you open a case invariably you are told to return tracked at your cost. So only open a case if the seller is being obstructive or ignoring your messages. And then, you must be prepared to send it back at your cost.

So you still have the item?

If the supplier has not had it returned, you've little hope of getting a refund sorry.
I don't know why you think the ebay resolution system is on the side of the seller. All you have to do is provide online proof of its return and you would have got your money.

What do you think ebay is? Amazon? ... but to be fair, Amazon do kick off those buyers who think they can regularly get a refund and keep the item.

Now you've closed your ebay claim, you can't even get ebay to help you.

eBay will not force a seller to pay return postage. There are occasions when the buyer simply changes their mind and it would not be fair for sellers to have to pay for this.

They may still refund you if you return, but it will be outside of eBay as the case is closed as far as they are concerned. They may not be quite as flexible now as they will have a case mark against their account. It's probably worth a shot though.

Thanks for replies. Its only a scart adapter so no big deal as it didn't cost much, only it was the wrong type they sent me, so sending a £2.29 item back at a cost of £3.15 didn't make sense and the other negatives show that the seller won't pay postage.

I have returned a faulty mouse before a few years ago by ordinary post and as the seller said they didn't get it, I hadn't a leg to stand on, so I think an ordinary post wasn't an option as they may well say that they didn't receive it.

I just thought that it was a bit early for the resolution centre to force me to provide a tracking number and not let me proceed further unless I did.

The seller has 48 negatives and 54 neutrals out of total of 5100 sales for the past mth, so they are definitely not doing everything right.

    Thanks for replies again,
