JSA and new job

Wasn't sure where to post this but I'm desperate for advice!
I was claiming JSA from 21st May (when I had to leave university) until 6.6.12. I stopped my claim because I found a job in the care sector.
Little did I know (I should I have asked more questions, I know) the contract is 0 hours, I didn't get paid for one week 9-5 training and its a possibility I dont get paid for the shadowing either, but I need to check this with the employer.
I got a letter from the council this morning to say my housing and council tax benefits have been put on hold.
I am screwing. I don't know what I'm going to do. I receive MRC DLA, I don't know when I start the job as they're still waiting on references. I won't get paid for three weeks after starting the job due to needing to process the time sheets. It is minimum wage with no guaranteed hours. WHAT HAVE I DONE?!
I'm not sure how JSA works. Can I ring them and ask to restart my claim til I start work, backdated to when I signed off? I didn't realise the training was unpaid. I didn't think the references would take so long.
I have no income for another 4 weeks apart from MRC, which isn't going to pay my rent, bills, council tax and for me to be able to live.
What can I do?
