Strange question, when you go in the Post Office to buy a stamp do you need to take the exact money., getting road tax is exactly the same.

The Post Office have developed a system called "giving change". It works quite well.

There's also a fall-back system where they will accept a debit card.

Don't worry, as long as you have insurance, MOT and a current passport they can tax it for you.

Post Office are rolling out contactless in all branches. Don't know what the limit is though.

Too low for car tax (even the cheapo £30 cars). It's £10 or £15.

£20 limit on contactless payments (was £15 until 1st June), so would only be OK for cheapest rate cars.
