    Use Fraps or CamStudio

Watch it on your PC and use Fraps or CamStudio to record the screen / selection of the screen you want.

http://camstudio.org/ - Is free and open source

http://www.fraps.com/ - Free version should be okay for what you want.

To be honest, I have only ever used fraps for game recording but I hear CamStudio is pretty user friendly.

Give me 5 minutes and il test it out :)

Sorry for the late reply, Call from the boss :))

CamStudio is very easy to use. After install go to Options and ensure you are recording audio (You will need to test this so that you get the audio you want)

Then choose region and region again.

When you press record it will ask you to draw a region (you obviously choose what you want to record) and thats it :)

    Good Luck

thanks for all your help duk you are a star!! just had a quick practice and it all seems to be working ok, the buffering is a bit of a pain, but hopefully will be all working tonight.

as the bbc are streaming it over 3g when the truck is moving fast it seems to buffer a heck of a lot

    No Problem.

I noticed the buffering when it was going through Swindon a few weeks back, don't think there is much they can do about that though, Lets just wait for 4g :D

i have been watching for a while and the buffering is definately a lot less when actual torch relay is on, it seems only when in fast moving convoy is when the v bad buffering hits.

I cant thank you enough for helping me, my friend will be so chuffed to have this on dvd

Would this method also work for recording videos from Youtube, or is there a better solution?

I am not actually sure about the legality around recording the online stream however, if you are even shown in any programme with BBC I believe you can ask for a contributor copy, which may be better quality.

    https://faq.external.bbc.co.uk/templates/bbcfaqs/emailstatic/contributorTerms

    Saying that..

The charge for a single DVD copy from the original broadcast master is £108
