bottleofred wrote: »Good afternoon folks,
I've a hangover here if anybody wants it, as red had way too much red last night:o. That said, we were out with friends and had a very good night of food and wine:). I am not going out today and will be avoiding the perils of internet shopping, so am happy to declare NSD5 for today please:)
Kerri, the money you save on shopping amazes me at times and I wish I had access to as many coupons as you. I agree about trying to support local businesses too, although it can be difficult when things are much more expensive than you'd expect to pay elsewhere. That said, the internet and big supermarkets have had a major effect on the high street and once it's gone, it probably won't come back, as independent businesses are still continuing to close at an alarming rate:eek: and I doubt that the supermarkets will go out of there way to help us save money if that happens:mad:.
LMH, I hope you get an NSD soon.
If, love the picture with the salmon trying to cross the road:T
I hope everyone else is well and enjoying the weekend. I'm off to see if I can shift this hangover.
Ouch! hope you have some painkillers to hand red.
A lot of my :money:coupons come from wombles, or trying to make the most of the really good value coupons that pop up every now and again, but it can be time consuming and you need a thick skin when your coupons get questioned.
You're quite right about the high street disappearing - the guy I ordered my frame from recently moved his business from a smallish shopping centre that used to be thriving about 25yrs ago, people would queue to get in at the weekend - now it's looking like it going to be redeveloped and part of it will be turned into a Te$co. I was saying to him that I think it would do well as a kind of permanent farmers market, but I guess that's additional cost to the local business for the site, staff and other overheads - which will be a lot more than a stall at the local market.
