Any help please?

hey all

I am a complete computer idiot. I have spent the last 20 mins or so searching this site and although i did find some related threads, they were dated in 2009/2010 so im guessing things have changed since then?

Im looking for a basic bank account with no credit checks. Dont want to use co op (messed up on a current account with them).

I heard barclays cash card account has no credit checks? But i could only find that in threads dated from 2010... Has anyone had any luck recently?

I have also heard the new bank (metro bank) are accepting nearly everyone, but again not too sure on the credit checks.

I have been thinking of signing up ti Think banking, but dont really fancy paying a £25 setup fee and then another £14.50 monthly, Would just prefer a normal bank.

Does anyone have any up to date information they can shed on this matter for me?

thank you

As well as the main sticky thread at the top of this forum, the Money Advice Service publish advice here. The theory is that these accounts aren't credit-checked, although there are unconfimed rumours some banks do conduct checks. The main considerations are that you haven't a record of fraud or bankruptcy.

The banks will run a check with a CRA for a basic account and even for savings accounts. The purpose of this check is to help verify your identity and check for any history of fraud or bankruptcy. Defaults and CCJs should not cause an issue.
