I used the questionnaire with my Black H*rse Claim incl a short covering letter , I am still battling with this one and it is now with the FOS.

With the credit card I used a different ploy, I didnt bother with the questionnaire at all, I just sent them a letter ,but based on the questions on the questionnaire if that makes sense. So constructed a letter using all the info they wanted, but not in questionnaire form. I had sent them an SAR so had details of all payments I had made to them and enclosed copies of those also.

Tbh Im sure none of us really knew what we were doing and sent them off on a wing and a prayer , but its certainly worth a try if you feel you have a case for a complaint.

    Good Luck

    Pinot xx

    Nope, it's still sitting here...
I can see now why people use those companies!

    Send it off.

It's YOUR money and you can have it back. I got 440 pounds and my OH got nearly three thousand - all I did was send off two letters!

Get going girl, it's so worth it!
  • I have given up and used a company for one claim:(. They will take 30% of me but unfortunately the company I am claiming off had gone into liquidation and so everything was even more complicated. In fact to be fair I did not even know I could still claim until the claims company contact me!

Another claim I am undertaking myself.

    So....watch this space;)

I don't think you should be made to feel bad about using a company. Yes you get the full settlement back if you do it yourself but on the other hand I would expect the claims handlers to have a better chance at winning the case simply because they will do whatever it takes to get that commission!

    Anyway, we shall see.

The problem with using claims companies is that if you are in a DMP or in arrears in any way, shape or form, the creditor is entitled to use the PPI refund to reduce your debt and you are then left having to pay the claims company out of your own money.

Really, Is this true, is it definitely true as I may be in deep doggy doo doo if it is! The claim I have used the agency for thought was for a loan that was paid in full many moons ago, nothing to do with my DMP. Certainly nobody pointed this out to me so I also assume they could not enforce this? The other claim, that I am doing myself, is with egg and that is in my DMP so they are welcome to it.

Are you 100% positive as I may need to make some phone calls if this is the case?

  • I think you have misunderstood me or I didn't make myself clear, this would only apply if you still owed money to the creditor and you have just clarified that yours is fully paid. So all is well :)
