A quick PPI question

Options
Hiya,
I know there's a PPI board but it's scary and I don't want to go there (once bitten).
Just wanted to know, that in the first instance, when one writes to the lender, is it the questionnaire we're supposed to send (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance#reclaim (stage 3)) or a letter? I'm a little confused.

Thanks..

  • Hey BlushingRose

I hope you get a few extra responses shortly. I can only speak from my own experience. I sent off the template straight away as I had all my account details and that worked.

When you say the template, you mean the questionnaire?

Either a letter or the questionnaire will do for the complaint, I would go with the questionnaire though as the bank usually ask to fill one in anyway so it'll save you time.

Thanks - do I have to write a covering letter too? Just feels odd randomly sending in a questionnaire! (It's for a CC, does that make any difference?)

Yes I would put a breif covering letter in just with the credit card number and telling them your complaining. No it doesn't make any difference if it's a credit card.

    Good luck with your claim!!

  • With my bank (NW) I just sent them the questionnaire with a short covering letter. They had the questionnaire on their website to fill in if you wanted to claim it. It was only after I sent it off that I realised it was the same questionnaire as Martin's!

Don't worry about it you'll be fine, it's easy, we're all beginners at one point...

Just make sure you dont fall for these claim companies who take 25-40% of what you win especially if you are in debt with the bank you are putting a complaint to as the may put the win towards any debt owed and then the claims company may still demand money from you even though you may not receive any in 'your hand'

This is for a credit card, rather than a loan, but it seems that the questionnaire is the standard.

Thanks, no I don't plan to pay a company - we're on a DMP so if we get an award and the credit card takes it off the debt, that's fine! (although cash in hand would be lovely!)
