Never said anything about throwing away fuel. Simply said put some fresh in the tank i. e. top it up.

You do seem to be in the minority on fuel freshness though!

    5t.

I also seem to be the only one with regular experience of leaving a bike this long.

If I'm wrong about fuel freshness, how come I've never had a problem? Maybe they sell different fuel in my neighbourhood?

Thanks for the answers, tyres are fine both replaced last year and the bike sits on a center stand, oil and filter change was done start of last summer, I changed the front brake fluid summer before last.
The battery is a fairly new sealed one, on a charger but I lost power to the garage over the winter so its now dead.
The fuel may be an issue, there's none in the tank so we have a leak somewhere, what's the best option, I can't see any visible drips from anywhere so do I ignore it or replace pipes and valves etc.

Have you checked the condition of the fuel pipes that run from the tank to the carbs and also the pipes that run between the carbs? Its an 18 year old bike and if they are rubber then it is possible they may be perishing which could result in the leak.

You can't see a leak because the leaking fuel has all evaporated. Put a small amount of fuel into the tank and see where it's leaking from.

I've had stuck clutch plates on two Kawasakis. Check the clutch on the centre stand with a foot on the brake before riding it.
