Hi I am after some advice...
I am on a debt management plan and my dog has poorly ears. The vet can keep him comfy but he really needs an op at £350+Vat per Ear!! I have no spare money and do not qualify for benefits. I have rung blue cross but no benefits mean no help from them. Would the rspca be able to help me?
Thanks

Sorry to hear about your dog, you said you have tried Blue Cross, have you tried PDSA/
Are you anywhere near a Celia Hammond branch?
Friend's cat got run over, usual ver quoted crazy sum for an op (broken pelvis) , frind had no insurance, Celia Hammond operated on the cat for fraction of the cost and agreed instalements...
Hope you manage to sort something out0 -
Are there any family members who might be willing to help?
Where did the dog come from originally? Some rescue centres occasionally help when 'their' dogs are in need.0 -
Anything you could sell to fund the treatment?
Any gadgets? Anything?
DO a collection round friends/family and run a boot sale?0 -
Thanks for the replies. I dont think pdsa will help as not on benefits. Dont really have much to sell as sell most things to help with kids clothes etc. I have already borrowed some money to fund his last round of vet bills of £70 to keep him comfy. He really needs the op as his ears are really bad and will just keep getting infected (narrow ear canals). He wasnt a rescue dog I've had him for 7 years and this is the first time I have needed help with him. (Hubby out of work).
Feel horrible about it he's not in pain at the moment but its only a matter of time. Vets are really good and always see him as a re-examination to keep costs down. Just need this to be done and then he would be pain free. I have asked if they do payment plans but they dont

Hi try another vet to see if they will take installments.0

I rang a few today and they all said the same. No as they don't know me or the dog...0

I asked if you have Celia Hammond Animal Trust anywhere near you?
Not sure where in UK you are ...

If you do, I am sure they would help - even if you are not on benefits. They help low income people.0 -
With PDSA you need
Be receiving either Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit *

What about RSPCA
Pet rescue or pet charities in your area
RSPCA

RSPCA headquarters does not provide individual financial assistance with veterinary fees. Our branches, which do assist with veterinary costs, are run independently by locally elected committees of trustees. Where their funds allow, many of them help animal owners in receipt of a low income state benefit. This is either via one of their clinics or through using a voucher at a local private vets.0 -
Hi Sorry no not near any Celia Hammond. Thanks am going to ring rspca tomorrow. I have found my local branch so will try them first. Will keep you posted. Thanks for all your help
