Hi,
I just wanted to know if there was a way of connecting my Western Digital external hard drive to my Aego M 2.1 speakers? I plan on putting all my music on the ex drive and want to play them using my aego's. I dont wanna be keeping my pc on all the time to play the files from the hard drive. I would also like this gadget to have a remote control. It would have to have a phono connection of some sort as my aego's have phono inputs.
Thanks in advance.

What you want is an mp3 player which accepts a USB harddrive storage device.
Never heards of one, but 10 seconds on google and u should find out0 -
The xbox 360 allows you to connect USB devices and play the contents, video, mp3, wma, photos. just make sure the drive is formated in fat 32 not NTFS.
I have just had a quick look to see if there are any audio amps that have a USB input, hey car stereos have them now so why not home amps? and the Pioneer VSX-916-K seems to have one, Im not 100% sure on its use as it states mp3 player connections. but the fact it costs almost 3 times as much as your speakes you may have a problem with the price, maybe have a walk round your local decent hifi shop.0 -

I aleady have a 360 but I hate keeping it on for long periods of time cos its so damn loud!
I just want something where I can have access to all my mp3 files and be able to play them on my new speakers without my PC noise in the background, plus it will save on electricity!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

You still need your computer on to feed from the hard drive over a wi-fi network.
I am unaware of anyway of doing this as you need a device to read the harddrive & then produce a line out signal to the speakers
Easiest option might be to buy a old hard drive mp3 player and use that.0 -

'Also under the flap is a USB port for connecting a separate USB memory key, MP3 player or plug-and-play USB hard disk containing audio files.'
Could i not connect my hard drive directly to the unit using the USB2.0 port then use line out to connect to my speakers?"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

It looks like it may but, for £150 its alot of money and the review says the screen can only be read if you are directly infront of it.
Personally I would make use of the 360, I use mine over the wireless network and have a USB drive to plug in to it. if yours is too noisy you don't have the volume turned up enough. or there is something wrong with it, mine is almost silent, maybe look at the surface you have it on is there any vibration? touch it with a slight preasure and see if it goes quiet you could look in to getting something to sit the 360 on.0 -
Can anyone suggest a high volume storage (30gb+) mp3 player that will be able to use a wireless remote, except an Ipod?"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
