PayPal and Ebay woes

Hello all,

Yesterday i purchased an IPhone from ebay for £320 quid. Instead of getting the nice blue pound sign in my purchased summery i instead got the picture of an hourglass (or eggtimer).

The seller has been really good and contacted me about it a few times, but he told me that PayPal has informed him that my account has been put under review and he should not post my item until its done.

I have called PayPal twice and spoke to various people and they tell me it shows that its completed (which it does on my PayPal "My Account" page) and verfiy that it was under review but should be done now or in the next few hours. However im still getting the hourglass on Ebay and it doesnt seem my seller can access my funds?

Any Ebay/PayPal experts able to tell me if the hourglass will go in the next few hours and change to the normal pound sign or is there something wrong?

Get the seller to check to see if they have the right address.

Could be the seller is stringing you along? Email coming can you try sending payment to another email address or other form of payment.

Just dont do it.

I'd assume it was a security check on Ebay. Iphones are a high risk item, so for buyer and seller protection they're more cautious.

How was your Paypal payment funded? Presumably there was a funds transfer from credit/debit card.

I'd just wait a day or two. There isn't a way the seller can be doing anything wrong if it shows on your account. Maybe ask Ebay as they seem to be doing the checking rather than Paypal.

Feedback is nothing to do with it, this is the buyer, not the seller. Paypal may hold funds on a seller until they receive feedback, if they held a payment until the buyer received feedback no one would ever sell anything.

Just dont do it.

Don't try sending payment again unless you have an acknowledged refund (ie an email telling you you have received a refund). If the seller has been told it is being reviewed and it shows similarly on the buyer's account then the email address would be correct.

Extra to above watch out for SCAM emails saying you have been refunded. Only log into your paypal to check. Dont trust emails.

I had a payment a few days ago which was put under review (I'm the seller) and it was resolved after just over 24 hours. Don't bother with PP customer services, they are hopeless. Unfortunately, all you can do is wait to see how it plays out. Do NOT send more money.
