Running out of paracetemol!

Good evening everyone!!!
I have been trying to understand forums and blogs for years now. Thinking I have finally worked it out:j
But, I still need some help, please? I am a discharged bankcrupt as of April this year. I had tremendous help from Christians Against Poverty throughout it all, and have learnt finally, well just about, how to budget.
with all the loans I had, and bank charges I was charged, over many years, I am wondering whether I may well be able to claim any money back.:)

However, I have one big problem. I suffer from severe depression and anxiety. some of it due to my financial state in the past. I have tried to copy and write the letters for bank charges, but ended up in such a state that I gave up :o:o:o:o:o:(:(:(:(:o:o:o:o
I cant ask anyone to help me do this as noone knows I went bankcrupt. So, despite all the threads and posts saying do it yourself???????
I just cant. I realise that companies take a percentage for their time, but I dont know what else I can do.
Can anyone offer me any advice please?:embarasse

    Hello and welcome!

First things first, before you start writing any letters jot down on a piece of paper anything you've been charged which you think you shouldn't have. At the side of each item, make a one line comment about why you think it was wrong.

That will start to give you a picture of whether there is something to deal with or not.

Don't rush or pressure yourself, and try to be as objective as possible.

If you come to the conclusion that there is something worth complaining about, then tackle it in stages (one bank at a time). Don't try and write letters to them all at once, you'll end up confusing and stressing yourself.

Making your list will also make it easier to structure your letter, you can choose to either list your grounds for complaint in date order or group similar charges together and address them as one problem.

So, your first task is to gather together any bank statements you have and check down them for any charges.

My suggestion would be avoid claims companies. Once you get them involved, they will pressure you into completing forms and providing documents because they will have a financial interest in chasing you.

If I were you I would go to the Citizens Advice Bureau. Its never easy to talk about these things but I'm sure they would be very helpful!!

If you're due a refund it may well go to your debt and a claims company cannot deduct their fee before this happens.

You wouldn't want to see your refund sink into the debt because you could be left with another bill from the company!

Having suffered from depression and anxiety myself in the past, I think both of the above posters offer good advice. Do it in bite sized portions, give yourself an hour a day to deal with it and then try to forget about it for the rest of the day. If you can get some help with dealing with it, do so, but not a claims management company. If you involve these vultures and are anything like me, you will spend years resenting the huge portion you will have to pay them from any settlement which you may receive that should quite rightly be yours. Use this forum as much as you need, there are some fantastic people with great experience offering some really good advice. Good luck, stay calm, you'll get there!!!

Just making sure that you are not attempting to reclaim charges incurred prior to bankruptcy? IF you are then give up now. In the remote chance the bank refunds some, they send the money to the OR. Not to you.

With respect for your condition, I just want to reiterate that your potential complaint venture is a waste of time as the Official Receiver would get any redress from successful complaints should you make them.
On the positive side, now you don't have to be anxious about not complaining in the first place.
I suggest you visit this part of the forum:

where you'll find people in the same position as you who can advise about other aspects of bankruptcy you may not be aware of.

    Try Aldi!

They had loads on the shelves of my local store yesterday, and quite cheap too.
(They may be located near the tills if you can't find them on the main sheves)

Restricted to max. 2 packs per person per visit ... but I don't think there is any limit on the number of visits allowed. Try and choose a different cashier to be on the safe side :)

Apologies, I hadn't picked up on the date you were discharged. Have to agree with the comments from the others regarding this.

Have you had any bank charges since being declared bankrupt ?

Contact the Official Receiver and tell them that you think that you may have a PPI claim from before bankruptcy. They will take care of claiming the money, with no extra work by you required. No need to use a claims company. If any money is left over after its been distributed to your creditors they will pay that extra amount to you.

You can take satisfaction from the company that cheated you being made to pay up and your legitimate creditors getting more of what they were owed.
