Car Insurance renewal

I am due for my car insurance renewal but having trouble regarding my no claims bonus. I was on coperate insurance policy from August 2007 since July last year. This is when I left that company and took out a policy under my name. At that point the insurance company gave me 3 years no claims discount based on the letter from the company that I have had no claims since 2007.

Now the policy is due for renewal but the insurance company would not transfer the full 4 years no claim. They would only release the one year if I leave them. They say that as the insurance policy wasn't in my name they will not acknowledge it.

Can someone help and suggest the best way around this please?

Your company driver letter wasn't for 3 years No Claims Bonus, but a letter confirming your claim free driving experience.

No Claims Bonus proper is only earned by buying insurance in your own name.

Your 1 year NCB you now have is correct.

As above they are correct, You only have 1 years discount, The previous discount offered was a bonus to get your business.

Get quotes with 1 year and see if its cheaper than your renewal If not stay with them and next year do the same with 2 years discount.

Eventually you will get cheaper quotes with your correct number of years no claims. And can freely swap and change.

Thanks for this....I have managed to get a slight cheaper quote from another company so should be going with them.
