Driving abroad

Maybe a stupid question, but please humour me.....
I'm going to Menorca in October for a couple of weeks and might be looking to hire a car for a couple of days while over there.
How easy is it to drive on the 'wrong' side of the road??
I've been driving for 17 years but have never driven outside the UK.......I'm not talking about signs or basics, but more of getting the feel of driving on the right hand side/roundabouts etc......does if come naturally or does it take a bit of time to adjust?? I don't want to cause any accidents!!!! lol

Its not so different.
You may find yourself reaching for the gear stick and finding the car door in its place once or twice and islands and unusual junctions can make you stop and think, but so long as you concentrate on what you are doing you should be fine.0 -
Just remember to go the other way round roundabouts. Driving is easy it's the starting off on quiet roads with no other moving vehicles as a reminder.0

I always find it comes very naturally. The main problem comes if you make a stop for fuel, lunch or whatever and you then drive back on to an empty road: it's easy in those circumstances just to forget!
I try to remember to move the rear-view mirror to an unusable angle whenever I stop. The act of having to straighten it reminds me why it's crooked in the first place. It helps to have a passenger giving you reminders.Je suis Charlie.0 -
The hardest thing is, if you're on your own, to get back in the right side of the car!
The number of times I got in the passenger seat after filling up with petrol, finishing work etc when I moved to the US... very embarrassing...0 -
It's very easy and you should hopefully take naturally to it. Might be helpful to brief your passenger to watch your road position on the kerb side though.
Menorca has very little traffic as well.0 -
Menorca only has one main road and no major cities to get lost in so its a good place to start.
Roundabouts are tricky at first, you also just need to remember to be on the correct side when you set off from parking somewhere.0 -
I never find roundabouts a problem
Turning left at complicated junctions are worse for me, I just take a couple of seconds to remember to look left and go all the way across the other side.
It still has me thinking for the first couple of hours even though I regularly drive abroad with work0 -
It's ridiculously easy.
Only an absolute muppet would find it difficult and after about 5 seconds it feels completely natural and normal.0 -
