I will when i get home today put a link up to a letter recieved from a council confirming that a pcn is valid for 1000 days. That means that after that they cannot legally chase you for it. Or any action on it is automatically suspended

Even better, don't needlessly get a parking ticket through carelessness. That way you won't have to pay at all.

There's far too much selfish and inconsiderate parking in the world. Nobody who owes money should be risking getting a parking ticket....;)0 -
It is easy for people to say this.I would not be complaining if it was a fair cop. When you get hit by a bank charge people start to f and blind. When you get hit with a pcn then "oh you shouldnt have parked there and all that rubbish" !!!!! same rule diffrent situation!!!!!ONLY COPY WHAT I AM DOING IF YOU ARE 100% SURE AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE END RESULT MAY BE. No it isn't. Parking illegally or dangerously can endanger lives and inconvience other road users. Or it's just plain careless - overstaying the limit - and it's ALWAYS inconsiderate to other road users.
If parking tickets are not a fair cop, you can always challenge them. If you think reducing bank charges and avoiding paying parking tickets are in the same universe, you live on a different planet to most other people.0 -
We had a parking ticket once!! MY OH and I parked in a place where there were no signs at all that we couldn't park where we had. Went to a festival and when came back in the evening, cones had been put out and NO PARKING signs were everywhere  Other people had returned to their cars too and they had all been given tickets!!! We contested our ticket stating that these cones and notices WERE NOT there when we arrived and never heard from the council again
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -

CFC - don't know what planet you are on but people get tickets all the time that they shouldn't have received. It is easy to say contest it but most people just can't be bothered and pay up. It is a HUGE money spinner for local councils. It is much more cost effective for them to just ticket cars knowing that most will not contest.

My mother who has early dementia and is quite disabled displayed her blue parking ticket incorrectly, (wrong side showing) and got a ticket.
I argued with my parents that they should contest the ticket, explain, provide the number and they'd get the ticket revoked. But they absolutely wouldn't. They were afraid that if they spent time arguing it, not only could they lose their claim, but in the meantime the cost would go up and up. I just could not reassure them, and probably there are many like them who pay up because it is easier than contesting.0 -
OliveOyl - thats my point exactly!
