Resetting emergancy funds on electricity meter
Ok so I have a key meter and I have 2 electricity keys from two different companies. Now from what I read it clears the meter of any funds when you switch to another key, hence why you should run it down first.
What I want to know is.. couldnt you just use the emergency on the meter then use the other key to reset it and then rinse and repeat... theoretically of course

no, key meters only accept the most recent key inserted, once you insert a new key it will reject any previous one and (usually) give you error d6 on it...
so once you insert the new key, your old one will no longer be accepted by the meter!!0 -
Ah right, I thought it was just a pairing system so that when you put the key in that pairs it with the meter, so yeah im guessing it blacklists the key once you change it.
I may try it to see for myself, if it just errors you then there is no harm in trying.0 -
yeah we get loads of calls every week for error d6 its a pain..
main problem is when people lose their key, so they get or are sent another which they then use (which disables the original), then sometime in the future they 'find' the original key and top it up but the meter then rejects it with error d6 and they ring in...0
