Unfortunately only meeting the minimum which is a pain in the bum - the idea of perhaps getting a loan solely to consolidate the debt is an option, I guess as the APR would be lower (6.4%) where mine is currently (16.9%) which would mean that I'd be paying something more managable

    Ta all x
hi OP can you not try to transfer the CC debt on to a 0% apr card? Some places are doing 15 months +

Also head over to the debt free wannabe section for some advice on how to clear ur debt and get saving for that holiday!

    Folks,

Just a big thank you to everyone :-) its lovely to have such support & good advice. I don't think I really learnt or was taught enough about money management & the repercussions of borrowing & further to that grew up in a time where money was handed out willy nilly.

Thank you :-) and thank you for all the great ideas for my b/f & faith what a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday :-) congrats :-)

Hey I'm a little late to the party but I just wanted to say I think you came to the right decision.

I couldn't stop thinking as I read this how awful it would be if (heaven forbid) you broke up and you were struggling to pay not only your own debts but also the debt from a holiday for someone you didn't care much for anymore!

You it's difficult to tell e future. My MIL had a friend she worked with at lloyds for many years, this friend borrowed a large amount for her daughters wedding, had to delay retirement for several years to lay off the loan and, guess what, the divorce was through before the loan was paid!

Holidays on credit are for the financially baffled and for those with no agenda.

    Happy trails..............

A bit of tough love there 27col. The choice is entirely mine. Thanks.
I am a great believer in tough love. Of course the choice is entirely yours, even if the money is coming from someone else.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
