Hi All!

Our welfare centre currently uses a Meiko 530F washer machine, but it's worn out, so need a new one!

Any ideas where a good supplier of similar or better machines may be please?

Prices seem to range from a few hundred to few thousand, so any input welcome!

Thanks in advance

  • The difference between a commercial dishwasher and a domestic one is time and temperature. A commercial machines usually has a wash cycle of 1-3 minutes, wash temperature of 60celcius plus rinses at 80celcius. Most domestic Dwashers have a quick cycle of 30 minutes at 35degrees!! If you've got time, a domestic machine on its pots and pans cycle should wash hot enough for the environmental health office.
The most important influence on the price is whether the commercial dishwasher uses a gravity drain or has an automatic drain pump -- they can easily add £200-400 pounds to the price. To find out if a drain pump is required, phone a local or online catering equipment supplier, explaining where you wish to install a new machine and could they help with some advice. They are generally happy to provide information. If they are local, they may even have leads to second hand machines that need a new home. As decent new machines start at £600 plus, would repair be an option?
I ran my B+B for almost three years with two domestic Dwashers, but upgraded to a commercial one (undercounter AdlerCF50DP, now 7 years old) for the time-advantages of a 3 minute cycle when the tea room started. A further note: glasswashers tend to be smaller than dishwashers and therefore less expensive. And neither type is brilliant with pots and pans :-(

Around our way so many pubs and cafes are closing that there must be a lot of second-hand sales, maybe the same your way? Find an aiing/closing/closed cafe/pub/restaurant and ask the owner if they want to sell - you might just get a bargain!
