im looking to go on a holiday to egypt in a 1 or 2 months time.

Is it cheaper to independently book hotel and flight? or go with someone like thompsons?

what else other than hotel/ flight do I need to think about before I do it independandly?

I depends on a lot of factors. There is no simple answer.

If you are a couple or a family and only want to stop in one hotel then it can be cheaper to book a package. If you are travelling alone or want to travel around then it's usually cheaper to DIY.

The location is also a factor. For some areas where only package operators go, there is often no cheap DIY alternative.

You also need to factor in transfers and insurance. Package tours sometimes include day trips.
