Well any opposition party can say this, except perhaps the greens, but someone has to collect the coppers and we are supposed to be weaning ourselves off carbon altogether.

Unfortunately as cars become more efficient less fuel tax is collected and taxes fail to restrain travel. The law of unintended consequences.

The horrible fact which everyone doesn't want to hear is that taxes need to go up somewhere from something to fill in the shortfall! What is is going to be?

It seems that we can't increase taxes when fuel prices go up, we can't increase them as they come down, so when can they be increased? Our carbon targets are a complete sham.

People who complain should be forced to fill in a spreadsheet so they are forced to balance the sheet such as reduced fuel tax means greater income tax or greater lung problems combined with reduced funds for health service etc.

That should make me unpopular making people face facts! :)
  • Britain's debt is raising thanks to Labour bankrupting our nation. They can call for all things, but the reality is that consumption taxes (VAT, duties on fuel, tabaco, alcohol etc) should raise, while the income tax threshold should raise.
  • Ed Balls, the man who flipped his house 3 times in 2 years to scam the tax-payer.

Fuel prices pretty much doubled while Labour were in power.

Calling for a delay in putting prices up? Do they really think we've forgotten what they let happen in the first place.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Scrapped. Although Labour would do well the remember they raised the fuel duty escalator to 6% while in power then frittered away the cash.

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

It was never going to happen in the first place.

They announced it so they could pull it later in attempt to make it look like they 'care' and keep the great unwashed happy.

They will do like they did with vat, double the amount on the increase
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Delaying the rise until January means the increase will not now be reflected in the September CPI/RPI figures.

And what calculations are based on the September figures ????
  • Seeing the mess they got us into, how come they have all the answers now, they do not deserve a fleeting moment of attention.

Not as the current shower are anything to write home about either, borrowing up again, and not a clue what to do about it.

All of them doing very nicely for themselves though thankyou, some things never change.

So he's delaying the rise. No news here. It might be news if he started CUTTING these taxes instead.
