Transferring ebay money to my bank account, help! :(

Morning all!

I am a newby to ebay, thought I had it sussed. I sold my first item 5th June (21 days ago). I understand ebay now hold this money for 21 days, that's fine. My buyer collected this item from my house, so no tracking postage number and they have left me no feedback. I am now trying to transfer my money from paypal to my bank account but in that section my balance is showing up 0.00. Why is this, and how do I get my money??

Thanks in advance

If someone collects from your house, you get CASH at the time of collection, do NOT let them use paypal.

This is becasue the onus is on you should it come to it, to PROVE you delivered it to the buyer.

If your balance is 00.00, you need to check the paypal account and see if the money is pending, if not it looks like it could have been reversed, so the buyer now has the item and money, a well known scam.

Sadly if this is the case there is very little you can do about it.

I think the buyer has to leave feedback, but not 100% on that, sure someone else will let you know.

But paypal on a collection item is never recommended for future reference, you have no seller protection. :)

The payment is pending. Does this mean the buyer has paid? I will be sure to take cash next time.

Yes buyer has paid, maybe you could leave them feedback (if you havnt already) in the hope they leave you some. Whenever i have had a 21day hold, as soon as feedback is left the funds were released, whether that was 2days after or 2weeks, never had to wait 21days.

Thanks punkpink, I did leave good feedback with them, and emailed them to ask if they would kindly leave me feedback. I think they were a one off user on ebay as they have not sold or bought anything else. The item was a set of ladies golf clubs. I'm just wanting to find out how much longer they will keep hold of my money.

Im sorry i cant help with that, they should release it today/tomorrow, but its paypal so you never know. As long as its pending you have nothing to worry about, its if they open a dispute you have to worry as you cannot prove delivery and they will get a refund automatically. But as its been 3weeks i wudnt think you have much concern there.

For new sellers on ebay, paypal seems to hold the money for 21 days. If you sign into paypal it will tell you the balance and status, and if you have to wait.

The unfortunate thing is that when selling on eBay you have to take Paypal - even on collection items - if the buyer insists.

As you've found out it's not always unsafe. Most people are honest; there are some scam-magnet items but it is easy to overstate the possibility. It does still happen - I've just advised my friend not to sell his furniture on eBay because of it - but if you do go ahead selling something on eBay you have to take the risks of the platform that they have established.

Trying to have your cake (the good prices) and eat it (try and enforce the unenforceable) is not often possible. There are plenty of adequate venues for pick-up items out there - eBay is just not worth risking sometimes.

I'm rather concerned about the payment pending. Is there a picture of an egg timer? If so it could be that the payment was an echeque.
Collection items should be paid by cash if at all possible.
