These are my estimates, please remember I am an amateur and valuations are really just educated guess work. They will be worth what someone is willing to pay and not a penny more ! Japanese quartz watches do not hold their value well in comparison with automatic movements with a few exceptions . The 2 you have here are nice watches in reasonable condition form what I can see.

Ok- the first one with the white face I would suggest you will get around £70 for, a little more if you have the box ,papers and spare bracelet links
the updated model available for £140 here

The second one with the black face I think a little more, around £100 , again a little more if you have the box ,papers and spare bracelet links
equivalent available new here for £190

    OK, great :).

As regards posting, you could send those Special Delivery with extra insurance up to however much you need when the item sells, or perhaps a courier if you can find a decent one that insures jewellery - DEFINITELY and I can't stress this enough CHECK what is covered as many carriers VARY in what they actually insure, and jewellery is something that not everyone handles in the same way.

If the price is going to vary depending on finishing value, start the item at a reasonable price inclusive of postage; that way you will avoid having to try and ask the buyers for more after close of auction, which is always a no-no with eBay. My view would be that I would be happy to pay out for an additional service on items that unexpectedly reach more than the normal insurance threshold, because it safeguards the bulk of the cash. But some sellers get all huffy and moan about being out of pocket - really, if something sells for £200 you can afford the £6-£10 that SD would cost.

That way, you may pay slightly extra fees (60p to £1 on the postage element) but you will reap the reward and not feel as if you are out of pocket. All of which is extra important from a buyer's POV and you will get auto-5*s for P&P.

Alternatively, look around, see whether a classified ads site might be easier/safer to use for an item of that value. I agree, I would be a little queasy about putting something of that kind of value on eBay - there is a lot that could go wrong with an online sale, particularly loss in the post and fraudulent payments.

I won't retract what I said about buyers, but the more expensive the item, the more likely the scam (I didn't know what kind of price we were talking about).

Best of luck :), anyway. We're always open if you need more advice.

agree with Crowqueen about delivery , use Royal mail special delivery , its not expensive for the peace of mind offered ,it will end costing you about £6 to send insured next day for up to £500 in value .
