Cold water comes in straight from the mains on the street (at least it should) so it's always fresh. Hot water is stored up in the attic in a tank. It sounds like the hot water tank isn't filling up and now all the crap in the bottom of the tank is coming out.

With combi boilers the tank is the attic is no longer used

I was going to say the same- they took our tank out when we had the combi in. The brown water problems I was getting with my hot water is what HC said, the skank at the bottom of the tank where it wasn't filling up properly

I actually found my first ever ones at gone midnight in a store and they went up to full price next morning. How lucky is that!!! :D

I remember that, very jammy and I was the one to bring the sad news that they had gone up finding both the marmalade and jam fully stocked. If you could have seen my face that morning from a huge grin to a huge jaw drop when I saw the SEL. Only ever got 1 lonely jar of jam. Good job I like marmalade. ;)
