I have just about given up offering shoppers coupons/advice I get fed up of getting looked at like I have 2 heads :D

Me too! :( I had some spare mam coupons the other week before they ran out and the store I was in never had any of the real food books, when I went to get some crispy bacon I could see a woman with a child with a trolly full of shopping looking at the them too, she picked them up and then put them back and said to me that their nice but cost too much, so I said "oh here you go I've got a coupon for those" she looked at me puzzled to I gave her 2 coupons and explained what to do ( buy 2 for £3 minus £2 in coupons = £1 for 2 ) and she said oh I can't be bothered with coupons!!
I thought she would be greatful lol

It's the same with my family though I try and help them out by telling them about stuff cheap, glitching or with coupons and they never listen! Or they just expect me to buy them for them all the time!

I think you give me more credit that I'm due. If I was savvy I'd have loads of stashes and no money worries. As it is I have loads of money worries and no stashes :rotfl:

I've just cut my hours down at work as it wasn't paying to work the hours and pay childcare so I now have a few spare hours each week to try and play catch up. I've only started wombling recently after reading on here about others doing it and getting the MSE email about the Asda bargains. I would never normally have gone near Asda as my local one is, how to put it politely, not the most glamourous place to go :o The plus side is there's always dirty trollies to inspect and tut at. The Tesco I go to is as clean as a whistle so it's rare I ever see any receipts lying around so I'm not well versed on wombling there.

Ok so the glitch. You know the Muller offer? In Tesco it's 10 for £3 and in Asda it's 6 for £3 or 10 for £4. A few days ago the APG was using the full price of some of the items in the comparison. Lets say you get 10 strawberry rice, you'd pay £4 in Asda and £3 in Tesco. Ignoring the other items you need for the comparison, you should get £1.30 back for the 10% guarantee. This means the Asda price should have been 40p to the Tesco 30p. For some reason though, the strawberry rice was showing at 60p so (if my back of envelope workings out are right) you were getting back an extra 20p per pot meaning instead of getting them for 27p after the APG is taken into account, you were getting them for 7p.

Some of the other flavours were comparing at 50p, some at 56p and some not at all. I was getting myself confused with some many combinations that I couldn't and still can't work it all out. Today (from yesterdays shop) the comparison isn't as favourable. Looking at the last 3 receipts, the apple rice for example compares at 50p, 55p and 56p (3 comapred at £1.70). I can't find how to work it all out as it seems to change every day. I have been getting the same few flavours they stock but in differing amounts so maybe there's a pattern I'm missing. If anyone wants to try it, the worst that should happen is you pay £4 in Asda. Next best is you get a £1.30 APG. Next best is you get a £3.30 APG (or at least more that you should get).

i can't think what you mean about asda not being the epitome of well spoken genteel shoppers/shopping :rotfl::rotfl:

Its not about what is against T&C's to be honest, its about what gets noticed and then subsequently talked about between staff. If using 2 or 3 instead of 1 coupon goes on time and time again as it always has then so be it, it doesn't rile the staff and doesn't get on managers radars either. By using 10 or 20, that scenario might change.

Nobody ever gets it, but IMO if more people actually NEEDED to go wombling or use coupons to make ends meet then they may act differently.

And yep you are right, whenever I make such remarks I just get accused of being grumpy or the like.

I'm not ashamed to say I need to womble , you can't get a coupon for everything sadly and food, pet and household stuff is SO expensive (glitches aside lol) that I do need to womble to buy the things I need.

I picked up 2 receipts in Mr A at the weekend, a poor show especially for a Saturday but one had 84p and the other £1.81 so I was pretty happy with that!

I have been telling OH he needs to get a Saturday job as a Mr A trolley pusher, luckily he understood why and didn't feel insulted!!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thank you all for my birthday wishes too, I had a fab day - bit of shopping in the day and got myself 2 funky tops from TKMaxx, OH paid for one for my present!:T

Then we went for a carvery with friends in the evening and it was lovely to get everyone together. Then bowling afterwards and I won 2 games out of 3!:T OH was a loser and didn't win any he was rubbish - something to do with a few beers perhaps?

    :D
:) Learn from the past, enjoy and appreciate the present and work to make your future the best it can possibly be :)

    And get lots of glitches!

There's only so many muffin tops, tattooed necks and tracksuits I can take in one day :o

Editing due to the other edit!

Nope, I'm not in Belfast. Can't afford city living but I do work there. Where are the Asdas in Belfast? I thought one was Kennedy Centre but no idea where the other one is. No the one I'm talking about is Ards. The clientelle has changed since Tesco moved out onto their own site so now it's just Asda left in the shoping centre.

That's my next plan of attack. Need to move down the career ladder and think about maybe doing classroom assistant as it would fit in with the school holidays so much better especially as the kids get 8 weeks for summer over here
